My sixth visit to beautiful Melvaig, this time with husband, toddler and baby in tow! Never fails to delight. Picnic and seal watching at Mellon Udrigle – still one of my favourite places ever. Gairloch beach, and building forts on the beach at the bottom of the garden. See you next year!

The days in your cabin were very nice and the view from here is stunning. We’ve been to the beach a lot although it was very cold, but the sun was shining nicely. It was very comfortable and the kitchen is great. Plus: you were very kind and there are a lot of sheep around. […]

Had another good week here. The weather was decidedly mixed but we made the most of it. Carried an umbrella on a couple of days to fend off the worst of the wind and rain on our short walks from the car. I still enjoyed every minute of our stay though. Scotland is the best […]

Our third visit—we love the peace and quiet, stunning views and sunsets. Enjoyed spotting the wildlife—sorry not to have seen the otter this time. Weather has been very good, with just two showery days. Very comfortable; we look forward to coming back again. Tip: the Cullen skink at The Shieling is to die for!

Creel boat trip from Dry Island, Badachro—great value—1½ hours—great experience. A must do! A long drive but worth a drive up to Scourie (on a fine day)—a beautiful little beach just as you go in. Weather all week not too bad (some rain). Thanks.

We have had a wonderful time in your lovely chalet. The view has been stupendous most of the time—out to Skye and the Outer Hebrides! No whales, but seal and porpoise, so we were happy. Very reluctant to leave; thank you for a great stay.

A lovely place. Children are so sad that they didn’t see a whale, but they did see seals and deer. Beautiful view. The weather was not so bad and we enjoyed our holidays. Thank you.

Third time a charm. Just what our stressed-out son and girlfriend needed. Back to the busy world, restored by this magical place. We plan to return again—still not seen everything.

Our second visit and still in love with this place. Highlights—seeing a minke whale out of the kitchen window while making a cup of tea; the scenery never gets old; the cycle to Ullapool will stay in my memory for a long time, the Melvaig Inn and Ian—what can you say? Unique nowadays; long may […]

Thanks very much—had another good week. Weather not bad but scenery great whatever the weather. Went fishing bright and early one morning, before anyone else was about. Sadly caught no fish, unlike seven years ago, but had the wonderful compensation of seeing an otter. Never seen one before—marvellous!
